Try These Injectable Techniques to Stimulate Collagen Production

Try These Injectable Techniques to Stimulate Collagen Production

Collagen supplements are all the rage for helping restore hair, nails, and skin.

Collagen is the body’s most abundant protein, constituting about 30% of it. It’s the primary component of skin, muscles, ligaments, and other connective tissues.

As you age, however, your body produces less collagen, compromising your skin’s firmness. Eventually, you see discouraging signs of aging like wrinkles, sagging, hollowed cheeks, and thinning lips.

Fortunately, Dr. Sharon Gertzman offers diverse solutions for problems linked to collagen-starved skin. Serenity Medical Spa offers injectable treatments to restore your skin's structure, strength, and firmness, taking years off your face and revitalizing your look.

Which injectables prompt collagen production?

Dr. Gertzman provides two injectable treatments at Serenity Medical Spa: neurotoxins and dermal fillers.

Neurotoxin injections treat dynamic wrinkles caused by repetitive facial muscle movements (we’re talking decades of the same movements).

Dermal fillers help with static wrinkles that develop naturally, thanks to reduced collagen and elastin (another important protein that gives skin resilience).

Several dermal fillers can enhance the structure of your skin by encouraging collagen production, and we offer cutting-edge treatments that jump-start your body’s collagen-producing capabilities and address bothersome issues like:

It’s impressive when you think about it — we now have dermal filler treatments that work in conjunction with your body to boost collagen production. In this way, they support each other, optimizing your skin’s health and making you look younger.

Opt for an injectable to look — and feel — your best

Serenity proudly offers injectable treatments that plump areas on your face where you’ve lost volume — this alone makes your skin look healthier, more supple, and more vibrant.

When you consult with Dr. Gertzman, she may recommend these advanced treatments:

1. Radiesse®

This filler smooths your skin and adds volume through minute calcium-based microspheres suspended in a watery gel. Eventually, your body absorbs the microspheres, but the all-important collagen remains.

Radiesse treatments are quick and comfortable, and you see results right away. Better yet — they last up to a year.

Treatment improves deep nasolabial fold issues, horizontal lines that develop on the chin, frown lines, and marionette lines. Radiesse is also ideal for filling hollow areas on either side of your chin.

2. Sculptra™

Dubbed the “liquid facelift," the Sculptra treatment contains poly-L lactic acids that fill and rejuvenate areas of your face suffering from volume loss, like under your eyes, in the nasolabial fold area, on your cheeks, and even in your temple area. This treatment also signals your body to increase its production of collagen.

Dr. Gertzman typically recommends a series of treatments over several months, and results accumulate over time. Amazingly, the effects from Sculptra treatments last for up to two years after the initial treatment session.

3. RHA (resilient hyaluronic acid) fillers

Another important skin-friendly material your body makes, hyaluronic acid (HA), helps hydrate your skin. HA also preserves your skin’s elasticity and ability to “bounce back.”

As with collagen, you produce less hyaluronic acid as you age, but thanks to these fillers, your skin can look healthy, smooth, and naturally radiant.

Our treatments target different issues and areas of your face, so Dr. Gertzman can customize your care:

Each treatment’s lifespan is impressive. Depending on your treatment, you can expect to keep looking great from six to 15 months, and the hyaluronic acid keeps your collagen production pumping.

4. Dysport

Dysport isn’t a dermal filler; it’s a botulinum toxin A injection that relaxes the facial muscles and prevents muscle contractions to minimize vertical frown lines between the brows and crow’s feet around the eyes from four to six months.

Treatment takes about 15 minutes, and the injection feels like a brief pinch, but Dr. Gertzman prepares your skin by applying ice to lessen discomfort.

In addition to giving you tauter skin and erasing furrows, some research supports Dysport’s role in generating collagen production for improved skin resilience.

5. Daxxify

Also a botulinum toxin A treatment, FDA-approved Daxxify zaps frown lines between the brows — even deep furrows.

The treatment is effective thanks to a peptide formulation that works in conjunction with the botulinum toxin A to deliver outstanding, long-lasting, and natural looking results.
