How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

Dermal fillers — noninvasive injectable treatments — do for your skin what water does for a thirsty plant. They restore smoothness, erase wrinkles, minimize folds, and give your skin a refreshed appearance so you can again feel great when you look in the mirror.

At Serenity Medical Spa, Dr. Sharon Gertzman offers an array of dermal fillers that consistently provide impressive, long-lasting results.

Her caring approach and dedication to patient education complement her innovative treatment menu perfectly. Dr. Gertman also offers a top-of-the-line skin care product line, ZO Skin Health, which helps support your treatment results.

Dermal fillers 101

Dermal fillers are injections administered under your skin to add volume, plump skin, and smooth stubborn wrinkles — not just any wrinkles, however.

Fillers are specially designed to address static wrinkles. These creases develop due to a loss of elasticity in the skin, thanks to your body’s diminishing ability to produce collagen as you age. Collagen is the protein that supports your skin, muscles, and connective tissue throughout your body.

Dermal fillers are excellent for addressing:

Dermal fillers are popular because they’re effective, safe, and produce long-lasting results. In fact, over 3 million people opt to receive dermal filler treatment annually.

Getting dermal fillers is comfortable and quick.

Dr. Gertzman uses a very fine needle to carefully administer treatment, and all you feel is a quick little pinch. Afterward, you may notice some mild redness or swelling, but these issues resolve quickly.

There’s no need to set aside recovery time after treatment — you can jump right back into your normal activities. Plus, you’re usually in and out of our office within 30 minutes.

How long do dermal fillers last?

Here’s the great news — depending on which filler you get, dermal filler results typically last anywhere from six months to two years. Here’s a rundown of the fillers we offer and the timeline for how long results last.

1. Radiesse®

Calcium-based microspheres are the magic ingredients in this treatment. Radiesse is fabulous because it not only adds volume to the areas where you need it, but it prompts your body to make collagen, which supports your treatment.

Radiesse is particularly well-suited for treating your mid-face area if you have volume problems, jawline definition challenges, and nasolabial fold issues. It can even be used to restore the skin on your hands, an age-related problem that bothers many.

Your Radiesse results last for an impressive length of time. You don’t have to think about any maintenance treatment for at least a year.

2. RHA (resilient hyaluronic acid) fillers

These fillers contain hyaluronic acid, which your body also manufactures. Hyaluronic acid stimulates collagen production. Unfortunately, you make less hyaluronic acid with each passing decade.

Serenity Medical Spa offers Restylane® ReFyne, which plumps your lips and smile lines. It also has an admirable track record for how long-lasting treatment results last. You can expect to keep looking great for up to a year.

Restylane® DeFyne treatment is ideal for filling nasolabial folds, smoothing deep laugh lines, and making your chin area more defined. These treatments last from six months to a year, depending on the area of your face that’s treated.

We also offer the RHA treatment platform, which includes:

RHA ReDensity is effective for up to one year, while RHA2, RHA3, and RHA4 can last even longer — up to 15 months.

3. Sculptra™

Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, and its results are more gradual than the other fillers. Nicknamed “the liquid face-lift,” Sculptra adds volume to your mid-face area and under your eyes. Believe it or not, your results last up to two years.
