Author Say Good Bye to Acne Scars and Deep Wrinkles!
It is always my pleasure to report on improvements in laser technology that allow my patients to see not only significant improvement in their results, but also to be able to obtain those results with less discomfort and less healing time. Six or seven years ago, the Fraxel laser came on the market. It seemed as though the technology was going to get us amazing results. Visualizing the face as a pixelated 
computer screen, the laser would “drill” a hole to resurface the skin, but only every other pixel. By leaving the healthy skin in between the lasered skin, the idea was that the healing process would be much faster and collagen stimulation would begin at a very deep level. However, the results were not as good as we had thought. The procedure needed to be done several times, the healing process was sometimes as much as a week or two, and due to the type of laser, there was a very high rate of hyper or hypopigmentaion (darkening or whitening of the skin) as a side effect.
In the years to follow, there have been several improvements to this technology. Until now, it never really got to the effectiveness necessary to make it a desirable procedure in my opinion. Now the ProFx laser has coupled the safety of an NdYAG laser with the efficacy of a CO2 laser, allowing us to see amazing improvements in acne scarring, and deep wrinkles, without the risks associated with CO2 lasers. Pock type acne scars and those who have generalized wrinkling and decreased skin laxity can see remarkable, noticeable improvement after just one treatment. Significant, permanent smoothing out of these defects can be achieved in a series of three treatments. Though immediately after the treatment, the skin is remarkably red and even has some mild pinpoint bleeding, two to three days later, the skin has healed well enough to wear makeup and return to your normal skin care regimen.
